Acupuncture Marketing – Common Mistakes When Advertising

Dear Forward-Thinking Acupuncturist,

Many acupuncturists and most small businesses for that matter, don’t get the kind of results they want in with their ads due to the lack of knowledge they have about marketing and advertising.

There are some relatively common mistakes acupuncturists do when designing and posting an advertisement.

One of the big down falls is from the misguided belief that “bigger is better” and the more white space you have in your ad the prettier it looks.

Your ad is a tool to get people walking through your front door. It’s not to win awards or to get admired by other people.

Your advertisements sole mission is to get you more business. Period.

Another slip up is when you’re targeting the wrong group of people.

Here’s an example:

Let’s say you want to advertise your acupuncture clinic and you put together a full page ad to be submitted to your local newspaper, it might be better to send that ad to a local alternative health magazine or newsletter – maybe even a health and fitness magazine.

Here’s why:

You’ll get more people to respond to your ad from a alternative health or health and fitness magazine rather than the local newspaper that is sent out to everyone under the sun.

Here’s one more piece of advice – when you advertise, make everything dead simple to understand. Make it so that a 7th grader could easily understand the point you’re trying to get across.

If you don’t make a strong yet clear offer, no one’s going to respond to your ad.

So make sure you write and design your ad and all of your marketing for that matter, to the point that a 13 year old kid would be able to order from you.
